Faithgirlz...

I took the boys to the library today to turn in their summer reading chart and claim their final prizes. While I was waiting, I was checking out the new book rack in the children's room. A new series caught my eye....

...I came home and googled Faithgirlz. There is a couple of different series of these books written for tweens. There are fiction books, nonfiction, bibles, etc. showing girls how they can deal with social issues in a Christian way. The series above is called Blog On! I love how it appeals to tweens and encourages them to believe it, change it, create it, and to live it. Awesome! Check out the website at www.faithgirlz.com!

Now who is going to write some graphic novels to teach my boys the same stuff?

Spoken like a true librarian...

Have you read Twilight? If not, go get it now! I did not understand what all the craziness was about this summer when the fourth book came out. When the movie came out, shows were sold out. A friend lent me her copy at the beginning of spring break and now I understand.

Stephenie Meyer has written this book in a way that just leaves you hanging on, craving more (in fact, I sat and read the majority of this book for four hours straight). The sexual tension is so thick it's surprising because there is NO sex in this book. I found myself cheering for Bella and Edward early on in the plot.

Finished the book, thought I'd rent the movie. I was SOOOOOO disappointed and lost interested about 20 minutes into it. I hung in there and liked the drama and special effects at the end, but it doesn't do the book justice at all!
I can't wait to get my hands on New Moon!

Moral: Books will always be better than the movies!

The Lucky One

Have you read this book?
If not, then I suggest you do soon! I could not put it down once I started. The yucky weather this weekend was perfect for curling up on the couch with a blanket and getting lost in the world of Beth and Thibault. Beth has a very wicked ex-husband and Thibault is as mysterious, yet dreamy as they come. I even felt for Ben who despised going to spend time with his father. Maybe it's the fact that I love all of Nicholas Sparks' books or a simple coincidence that I wanted a distraction from my own drama with the puppetmaster, but regardless The Lucky One is a must read!

Bring on the snow days!

Okay, so I know that a few days ago I was dreaming of days by my pool and wanting warmer weather. However, whoohoo, it's a snow day! Those of you who know me well, know that I didn't want any snow days last year because my wedding was planned for the weekend that school was supposed to be over with. That school year started off not so great with a horrible straight line wind storm that caused lots of damage the first day of school. So, we started the year with school being cancelled the first full day! Luckily we only had one more and I was done with school at noon on the day of my rehearsal.

So, this year, bring on the snow days! I didn't end up procrastinating all night yesterday. I did get grades done for 11 out of my 24 classes. Since we're home today, I can finish the rest and start on my new book that a dear friend knew I would need!
